CHILDREN AT PUPPY PLAY GROUP

At Urban Dog Training we are committed to child safety around dogs. Children and Puppy Play Group

Children under 7 years of age are not permitted inside the fenced area at Puppy Play Group. If bringing along children less than 7 years of age please bring along another adult to supervise your children outside of the puppy play area.

We welcome children aged 7-15 years into the fenced area and encourage them to participate, however they should be accompanied by another adult (over 18 years of age) dedicated to their supervision. It is impossible to supervise both children and a puppy at puppy play group.

We are committed to child safety around dogs and will instruct your children on how to safely interact with dogs. However, there are important safety considerations that must be adhered to for the benefit of your child/ren and the puppies attending:

  • Please ensure your child does not approach the puppies in Play Group unless supervised by an Urban Dog Training instructor. Some puppies are not accustomed to being around children and can react adversely, causing stress or injury to the child and/or the puppy.
  • Please do not bring along any children that are afraid of dogs. Please understand that puppies are not trained dogs and WILL nip and jump up on children.
  • Children must not scream, yell or run around the puppies. They must not pick up, hug, hit, chase or tease any of the puppies, including their own. Any children doing so will be asked to leave the area immediately.
  • Please do not bring along toys for your children (including balls, bikes, rollerblades etc). Puppies can quickly become over-excited and bites or injuries may occur. Children who wish to play may do so outside the school grounds.
  • Children are not permitted to use the Play Ground equipment on the school grounds (as directed by Carina State School).

Please understand that we cannot make exceptions to the above.

DRESSING FOR PUPPY PLAY GROUP

For your comfort, health and safety it is important to dress appropriately for Puppy Play Group. You may be required to sit on the ground with your dog, allowing him/her the space between your legs as a ‘comfort zone’ – short skirts are not appropriate. Please wear clothing that you are comfortable in and do not mind getting dirty. Dogs will often tug at clothing, causing rips and tears etc. Please keep this in mind. In warmer weather you may like to wear sunscreen and a hat.

It is essential to wear enclosed, non-slip footwear for health and safety reasons. Attendees wearing open sandals and thongs will not be permitted entry.
